Permanent Residents in Canada since 2015
A permanent resident is someone who has been given permanent resident status by immigrating to Canada but is not a Canadian citizen. Permanent residents are citizens of other countries.
Permanent residents have the right to live, work or study anywhere in Canada, receive social benefits, apply for Canadian citizenship and receive protection under Canadian law and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. They are required to pay taxes and respect all Canadian laws.
The dashboard provides visuals related to the number of permanent resident permits granted since 2015 by month, immigration category, province, and citizenship. You can select from the drop down menus on the right hand side of the dashboard to change the images. A tutorial is provided to help users navigate the tool.
