The Temporary Foreign Worker Program is one of two temporary foreign worker programs in Canada. It requires a Labour Market Impact Assessment which confirms that no Canadians are available to do the job, allowing employers to hire foreign workers to fill short-term labour and skill shortages.
Work permits under this program include both high-wage and low-wage positions and include some specific temporary foreign worker employment programs in agriculture, caregiving and global talent.
Temporary workers in the following categories: the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and the International Mobility Program (IMP). A sub-category of the IMP Program also included is the Post Graduate Work Permit Program which grants temporary worker rights upon successful completion of a Canadian designated learning institute credential.
